C Train going downtown

We both got on the C train

I was exhausted from work

You sat next to me

With your beautiful shaggy hair

And a black guitar case in your hand

We listened to someone sing to themselves

In the front seat without care

My desire for bed could wait

I could stay in this train with you all night

Before I could slip a “hi” from my lips

You were gone like the wind

And off at 23rd street

I hope I see you again
