Honey

I want words to pour out my mouth

Before my mind interferes—

I want my heart to speak,

Without critical ears to hear.

I want to tell the truth,

Without feeling remorse.

I want to live my dreams

Without someone telling me what it's worth;

I want to run

Without feeling in my legs,

Become one with the wind,

Drift and sway

Till I’m in my mother’s arms again.

I want to start anew,

Live the life I belong to,

Pour honey from my lips,

Feel seen for more than my mistakes,

And not for my hopeful wishes.

Let the honey pour

Onto the pages I can’t seem to fill again.

Grab the neck of the pen—

Write the words my heart speaks,

But my hands lose in translation.
